Geoscientist and Writer
I’m a Christian geoscientist driven to improve ore deposit models to aid mineral exploration and development. It is out of my faith that I am committed to just resource development that enables human flourishing and stewards the Earth.
My academic work is centered around understanding how magmatic–hydrothermal critical metal deposits form, and developing exploration criteria to aid in their discovery. My experience extends from hydrothermal rare earth element-bearing fluorite breccia systems (Gallinas Mountains, New Mexico), volcanogenic beryllium–uranium deposits (Baiyanghe, China) and lithium-cesium-tantalum pegmatite deposits.
Critical metals are often geopolitically sensitive. In some cases, such as tantalum, they can be “conflict minerals.” My writing (blogs & essays) explores what theologically and ethically sound geoscience looks like in extractive industries (mining).
